Real Cicada necklace. A Dog-Day Cicada (Neotibicen canicularis) has been meticulously preserved with patience and skill, over the course of months. Pink toned ruby, emerald triangle and with opal tear drop are held within this cicada's pairs of arms. Wear it in the reverse, without the gems showing, for a more understated statement piece. The 18K gold on steel paperclip chain brings this necklace to 18" standard length, with a 2" extension allowing up to 20". Can be hooked smaller. A versatile body inclusive necklace design.

A rare storied specimen, brought to us by one of the performers at Minnesota Renaissance Festival. Found near fairy wing forest, after it had lived its full life. A show stopping necklace that embodies beauty, patience and taking up space, with timeless style.

The wings have been preserved through an intricate process leaving them waterproof and similar in wear and care to eyeglass lenses, while retaining the delicate edges through meticulous artist skill.

A highly specialized, sustainable, eco-friendly alternative to traditional petroleum-based resins. Formulated with plant-based, bio-derived and waste-stream materials, it contains more than 30% renewable content. Material sources include soy, pine, or cashew nut shell liquids. Jewelry-grade bio-epoxy offers high clarity, low toxicity, and excellent durability, making it a preferred choice for crafting sustainable heritage quality art, while reducing reliance on petroleum-based products. VOC free. Crystal-clear finish with a high-gloss, glass-like sheen. Superior non-yellowing (UV resistant) properties, tensile strength, adhesive properties, and impact resistance, compared to traditional petroleum-based epoxies. Includes HALS (Hindered Amine Light Stabilizers) to prevent yellowing. Waterproof.

Bio-epoxy is seen as a preservation and amplification binder for the properties of the natural elements it's bonded to. It acts as a 'lock' holding these energies steady, while preserving and grounding them.

Gold

A valuable dense, soft metal widely used for its conductivity, resistance to corrosion, unique physical properties and beauty. Gold is the most malleable and ductile metal, meaning it can be tamped extremely thin to the point of semi-transparent or drawn into long fine wires. With a similar density to tungsten, it is known for its heaviness for the size. While pure gold is too soft for most applications without an alloy for strength, which changes the color of the reddish-gold material accordingly: white (nickel/palladium), rose (copper), green (silver), or blue/purple (iron/aluminum).

An 'illuminating' metal associated with prosperity, wealth and high energy. Brings stability, happiness and purification to the wearer. Associated with the heart, promoting love and compassion. Gold is linked to the Sun in many traditions, highlighting vitality and consciousness.

Surgical Steel

A durable metal for daily wear comprised primarily of iron mixed with chromium (13-30%), nickel to reduce brittleness, and molybdenum to increase corrosion resistance. The chromium oxide outer layer is self-healing, and repairs itself if scratched, preventing long-term corrosion. Depending on the grade and treatment, it can be slightly magnetic.
Surgical steel can come in a wide variety of colors. Some colors are formed by heat oxidization (blue/purple), while others are formed by other hypoallergenic metal deposits as a vapor coating (physical vapor deposition), and still others are created from immersion in a chemical bath forming an oxide layer. These processes ensure the pigment Is integrated into the surface, not merely painted on.

As a 'self-healing' metal, surgical steel is associated with protection, healing and grounding. Viewed as a symbol of resilience, endurance and ability to recover. In many metaphysical traditions it is considered an energy shield, suitable for keeping one's energy field and aura intact, especially during difficult times.

Opal

A captivating hydrated amorphous mineraloid renowned for its milky-white appearance with internal play of a rainbow of colors. A popular stone steeped in history, often associated with purity, hope and emotional healing. Formed millions of years ago when silica-rich water seeped into underground cavities and cracks in sedimentary rock. As the water evaporated, the silica hardened to opal. A mineraloid (not a mineral) composed of hydrated amorphous silica with a water content of 6% to 10%. Some opals are hydrophane, meaning they can absorb water, temporarily changing their transparency and color intensity. Microscopic silica spheres arrange themselves in grid patterns that diffract light. Smaller spheres (~0.1 micron) produce violets/blues, while larger spheres (~0.2 microns) produce reds. Australia produces over 90% of the world’s precious opal. Most white opal comes from Coober Pedy, other locations include Ethiopia, Brazil and USA. Ancient Romans carried it as a symbol of love and hope, believing it carried all other gems inside it. Arabian legend says it fell from the heavens in lightning flashes. Greek mythology links opals to Zeus’s tears of joy after defeating the Titans. In the Middle Ages, it was believed to cure eye diseases and improve eyesight.

Worn to attract good fortune, enhance imagination and foster creativity. Associated with a sense of calm, mental clarity and spiritual connection. Used for emotional cleansing, relieving stress and soothing racing thoughts. Thought to absorb negative energy, acting as a shield. Often linked with the divine feminine, providing support to mothers during childbirth.
