Czechoslovakian Glass

Mohs Scale 6 to 7

Historically known as 'Bohemian glass' or 'Bohemia glass' this potassium-calcium glass was developed to be harder and more stable than Venetian soda glass. Intense, vibrant colors and intricate artistic detail are among the hallmarks of this artisan glass.

In metaphysical practices, glass represents water and energy flow, often used for clarity, focus, and amplifying energy.

Famous for beads, buttons and rhinestones, particularly the Jablonec nad Nisou region, Czechoslovakian glass has been renowned in jewelry, art and drink-ware for hundreds of years.

Use & Care

Use: Last On, First Off: Apply all lotions, perfumes, and hair/body sprays before putting on jewelry to prevent chemical buildup that can dull and damage the surface. Activity Check: Remove jewelry before swimming (chlorine), showering (soap residue and chemical exposures), or high impact activities like exercise or gardening to avoid damage. Avoid contact with other glass or hard objects to prevent scratching.

Cleaning: Hand-wash with lukewarm water and a soft sponge. Use a mild, non-aggressive detergent.

Storage: Individual Separation: Store each piece in its own soft pouch or a lined compartment to prevent stones and metals of varying hardness scratching each other. Environment: Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Moisture Control: Consider adding silica packets to storage containers to absorb excess humidity that can tarnish metals and affect stones over time.

Longevity: An exceptionally durable glass, which can remain heirloom quality for generations.
